The exact amount has been revealed not because Pitt was bragging —
that's not his style — but because he used it in his latest act of
kindness on Thanksgiving Day. According to People,
Pitt donated all the money in his wallet, which happened to be $1,100,
to a fundraiser for the U.K.'s Southampton General Hospital neonatal
unit. The BBC reported that Pitt made the donation when
a woman named Tricia Wilson-Hughes was soliciting donations from the
crew of Pitt's film "Wold War Z," which was filming in Dorset near a
gift shop where Hughes works. Hughes approached Pitt's bodyguard for a
contribution, and was stunned when he returned with Pitt's sizeable
offering a few minutes later.
"I couldn't believe it, I was completely dumbstruck," Hughes said. "He said if he had more he would have given it. I said honestly that is more than enough, but if he wants to do anything in the future that is absolutely fine. You hear negative stories about A-listers but I won't hear a wrong word against him, I am in awe of him."
Hughes' friend, Karley Gallagher, the 23-year-old mother of the little boy who inspired Hughes' efforts, explained that she was moved by Pitt's generosity.
