Actor Michael Jace was arrested on Monday night and held on suspicion of killing his wife, April Jace, 40.
Police responding to a shots-fired call around 8:30 p.m. local time in Los Angeles arrived to find April Jace dead on the scene.
Michael Jace, 51, was detained and taken in for questioning. He was later booked for murder, with his bail amount set at $1 million.
The actor, who has appeared in FX's The Shield and TNT's Southland, was still in custody as of Tuesday afternoon but had not yet been arraigned, an LAPD spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.
A spokesperson for the LAPD's criminal gang and homicide division previously told THR that the investigation into the matter was ongoing.
The motive for the killing is believed to be domestic violence.
Michael Jace also appeared alongside Russell Crowe in the 2009 political thriller State of Play.
